So, my thought was 'my needle is lean' - so I raised the needle. Another 'seat of the pants' observation to go with this - if I'm cruising along at 1/3 throttle, and let off the throttle completely as if coming to a stop, and then crack the throttle back open to 1/3 it doesn't really respond well (but if I open closer to half it accelerates nicely). By the time it is 1/2 throttle open it's pretty much clear and from there to full throttle it is really smooth.
